Petz has been in business, in retail, and in leadership roles for more than 25 years.
When Sherwin-Williams bought The Valspar Corporation in 2017, she joined the company.
Petz was in charge of different things at Newell Rubbermaid, Target Corporation, and PricewaterhouseCoopers before he joined Valspar.
With Petz, there are now 11 people on the Ulta Beauty board, and 55% of them are women.
Also, 36% of the board is made up of people of different races, and 55% of them joined in the last five years.
Ulta's CEO, Dave Kimbell, said, "We are excited to have Heidi join the Ulta Beauty family, and we are sure that her broad leadership experience, operational expertise, and focus on the customer will make her a valuable addition to our Board."
"We continue to benefit from our board of directors' wide range of experiences and different points of view as they guide our work to change how people around the world see and experience beauty."
Equilar, a provider of corporate leadership data solutions, has named Ulta Beauty, along with e.l.f. Cosmetics, Coty, and Sally Beauty, as one of the few US-based beauty companies where women hold at least 50% of board seats.
Kelly E. Garcia, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Domino's Pizza, and Gisel Ruiz, former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Walmart's Sam's Club Division, both joined the board in 2022. Petz became a member of the Ulta Beauty board in February.
